One death and 97 new cases of COVID-19 were announced on Monday, including 3 new variant cases.

The Saskatchewan resident who tested positive for COVID-19 and died was in their 60s from the Saskatoon zone.

Of the new cases, 50 are in Regina, 12 are in the central-east region, 10 are in the north-central region, six are in Saskatoon, five in the far northeast, four in the northwest, three in the northeast, two in the south-central zone, two in the southeast, and one in the far northwest. Two cases are pending resident information.

1,463 cases are considered active, and there were 151 recoveries announced Monday as well.

All 33 of the active cases located in the south-central zone are in the sub-region 'south-central 2', which is made up of Moose Jaw and the surrounding area.

The three new variant cases that were found were all the UK variant, with 2 detected in Regina and one in the northwest.

140 people are in hospital with 117 receiving inpatient care, and 23 are in intensive care.
