A big donation was announced just before 6 pm in support of the 17th annual 800 CHAB Family First Radiothon.

$400,000 was donated from the estate of Jack and Ruby Radu.

The announcement was made by Brenda Brodie with the Hospital Auxiliary.

"Although Jack grew up in Flintoft, and Ruby grew up near Norway, Alberta, they lived their entire married life, all 60 years here in Moose Jaw. Jack and Ruby supported Moose Jaw in every possible way. From their personal experiences with health care here in the city, they wanted a legacy gift that would go to work in Moose Jaw to ensure others could lead healthier lives. Their sincere belief in supporting their community and especially the healthcare field is inspiring. The Auxiliary honours Jack and Ruby Radu by donating $400,000 at the Radiothon to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation. We know that this donation will help to save the lives of many critically ill patients. Jack and Ruby's gift will be forever displayed on the foundation's donor wall at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital."

The final amount raised by the 2023 edition of the 800 CHAB Family First Radiothon was $592,533.

Funds raised will support the Moose Jaw Health Foundation in purchasing new equipment for the emergency room and Intensive Care Unit at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital.
