The Moose Jaw 13U AAA Canucks came up just short in their Regina Baseball playoffs last weekend, falling in the semi-finals.

The 13U Canucks came into the tournament as the underdogs, with a winning percentage of .450, and sitting seventh in the league standings leading up to the playoffs. The Canucks sure didn't play like underdogs as soon as the playoffs got underway. Their first opponent was the Regina White Sox and after a high-scoring affair the Canucks came out on top 15-11.

At the plate, Van Glasser, Grady Johnstone, and Avery Nielsen all went three-for-three, with Nielsen adding a home run to his ledger. Drayson Silbernagel went two-for-two at the plate with a home run, which was a grand slam, and a walk. Max Craig, Riley Ducharme, Rylan Taylor, and Ronan Tonge each had one hit in the game as well.

Silbernagel went five strong innings before Reid Weiss & Avery Nielsen came in to close things out in the sixth and seventh innings for the win.

Coming off a big win, the Canucks next opponent was the first-place Regina Buffalos in another slugfest. It was Moose Jaw who prevailed by a score of 17-11.

For the second straight game the Canucks bats came alive as Nielsen went three-for-three with two home runs, Tonge added two hits and two home runs, Glasser went two-for-three with a home run, and Craig picked up three hits with a home run. Ryker Kretsch had a home run and a hit in the win. Weiss, Takeo Smith, Silbernagel, Johnstone, James Howe, Rylan Gray & Rylan Taylor each had a hit as well.

On the mound, Max Craig went 5 and one-third strong innings before Nielsen came in to close things out in the last 1 and two-third innings for the 17-11 win over the top-seeded team in the league to claim first in Pool A and advance to the Semi-Final.

In the semi-final, the Canucks would due battle with the Swift Current 57s. Moose Jaw would run into a hot 57s pitcher, which would end their playoff run. Takeo Smith led the way for the Canucks at the plate going two-for-two at the plate. Glasser added a hit and a home run. Howe & Tonge both collected a hit.
