Another round of Verified Beef Production Workshops are beginning this week across Saskatchewan.

The workshops are Canada's on-farm food safety program for beef, and are designed to uphold consumer confidence in the products.

"We've had well over 4000 producers in Saskatchewan who have taken the workshop training," said Coy Schellenberg, Provincial Co-ordinator for the program. "Producers are allowed to go further than that if they want to, and become actually registered and verified with us, and then their operation becomes a Verified Beef operation."

Producers taking part in the program are eligible to receive a refund on some specific equipment purchased to help carry out food safety practices on-farm, as well as an on-farm audit at 50% of the cost.

The next meeting will be held today at 1:00pm at the Legion Hall in Maple Creek.
