The severe weather in recent weeks will put a pause on seeding operations in much of Saskatchewan, but conditions for the next few days appear favourable for farmers who still need to get the crop in.

Saskatchewan farmers continue making great progress. The latest Crop Report shows that 64 % of the provincial crop is in the ground, up from 22 % last week.

Cropping Management Specialist Shannon Freisen says producers in the southwest are approaching the finish line.

"Reporters are telling us that 80 % of the crop in the southwest is now in the ground," she says, "so that region is certainly leading the province in progress."

She adds, "Particularly in the southwest region as well as some of the west central, some of those fields were getting a little bit dry, so this moisture should certainly help things along."
