Some of the dry areas of Saskatchewan are seeing some much needed moisture this morning.

Showers began overnight in some areas and are expected to continue

"The areas that are going to be the most favoured for the heavier rainfall are going to continue to be the west of Coronach and over to Consul, Maple Creek, northward to around Rosetown, Swift Current, Outlook areas and eventually, secondary strong thunderstorms will evolve around the Melville - Yorkton areas," said Golden West Radio’s World Weather Agrimeterologist, Drew Lerner.

The moisture is definitely a welcome site for producers who had seen some drought stress in their crops and pastures.

"The sure makes everyone smile. If nothing else, it reduces the fire hazard. A little moisture perks everyone up and for the grain farmers, this will help fill the crops," said Doug Gillespie, President of the Saskatchewan Stock Growers Association.

The rain however is expected to also bring some wild weather in some locations in the more northeastern part of the province.
