The Saskatchewan Beef Industry Conference gets underway today in Saskatoon.

The annual event brings together producers, industry reps, university researchers and government officials.

Conference Co-ordinator Shannon McArton says they have a full agenda for today.

In the morning cattlemen will get an update on the Saskatchewan Forage Insurance Program and the Saskatchewan Beef Centre of Excellence:

"We've got concurrent sessions running just after lunch on Wednesday. One will be focusing more on the 4-H sector and the other will be talking about health issues. We've really got something for everyone," she said.

Later today presentations will focus more on marketing and production.

McArton adds tomorrow everything gets underway at 8:00am followed by a industry panel:

"National Beef Strategy will be discussed in this bear pit session with representation from the five major beef groups that developed and are now executing the national strategy. We have a lot of interest in that particular session," she said

Throughout the next two days Industry and Breed Organizations will also be holding their individual meetings as well.

The Saskatchewan Beef Industry Conference is taking place at the Saskatoon Inn.
