Organic Producers will be in Swift Current Tomorrow for a Low Input Agricultural Systems Field Day.

Saskatchewan is a world leader in organic production with over 1000 certified organic producers in the province.

Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's Research Scientist Dr Myriam Fernandez says the morning will be spent in the field evaluating trials before heading in for presentations in the afternoon.

"We have trials on preservation tillage and organic conditions, inter cropping, cover crop and all topics that are of a lot of interest not only to organic producers but also conventional producers. We also have several demonstrations."

The event goes rain or shine at the Swift Current Research and Development Center formerly known as SPARC.

In addition, producers are encouraged to come out tomorrow for the Saskatchewan Species at Risk Farm Program Workshop in Swift Current.

The workshop will focus on 16 species at risk from Upland and Wetland Birds to Mammals and Amphibians.

Tracy Hansen is the Program Coordinator.

"The goal of the program is to protect and enhance species at risk habitat and increase awareness for species at risk on farms in Saskatchewan. We are wanting to enable producers to voluntarily and confidentially complete a species at risk farm self assessment, with the opportunity to develop a species at risk farm action plan in a workshop type setting."

Tomorrow’s workshop runs from 9 til 4:30 at the Ministry of Agriculture office in Swift Current and on Thursday August 11th in Saskatoon.
