The National Farmers Union (NFU) is asking the governments Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and BC to get involve in the federal government's handling of the sale of the CWB.

The NFU wants the western provinces to purchase and hold the assets while a process is developed to put farmers back in control.

Ian Robson is Manitoba's Coordinator for the NFU.

"Obviously Mr. Ritz is trying to rewrite history," he said. "The Wheat Board worked for the farmers. Grain companies work for themselves, they don't work for farmers. The provinces could hold onto these assets at no cost if Mr. Ritz gives the provinces the same deal that he's willing to offer the elevator companies."

Robson questions why the federal government would consider selling the CWB to one of the multi-national grain companies that it successfully competed with up until August 1, 2012.
