Conservative Agriculture Critic ( and Cypress Hills-Grasslands MP) David Anderson raising concerns about what’s happening in the Ag Portfolio.

He says Federal Agriculture Minister Lawrence MacAulay is doing little for Agriculture.

He notes Health Canada has moved on several Agriculture issues and Minister MacAulay is nowhere to be found.

"Issues such as the proposed ban on the neonicotinoid soil and seed treatments and proposed changes on animal transport have been dumped out on the ag community without proper consultation or science and MacAulay is missing in action," Anderson said.

Anderson says Liberal political spin and special interest groups are taking precedent over any kind of scientific decisions which is setting terrible precedents for the future.

He also said MacAulay is doing little to help farmers while program cuts are being made.

"The Financial Minister is moving to take away the tax deferral on grain cheques, which is a financial management tool producers have used for decades," Anderson said. "Again this was done without notice, without consultation and apparently without the ag minister playing any role in that decision."

He adds it’s clear that Minister MacAulay is someone with little influence in the Trudeau cabinet.

Anderson made the comments in this week’s radio commentary.
