Saskatchewan Agriculture’s weekly crop report shows topsoil moisture conditions have improved slightly, although more rain is needed to help crops fill.    

The majority of crops in the region are listed in poor-to-good condition with producers spraying their healthier-looking crops for diseases and insects .

The majority of crop damage this week was caused by lack of moisture, wind and insects such as grasshoppers and wheat midge.

So far in the Southwest 34 % of the hay crop has been cut and 51 % baled or put into silage in the area.

Haying operation are continuing throughout the Southwest hay quality is listed as 42% good, 42 %   fair and 16 % poor.
