The Committee for the Grasslands Foodgrain Growing Project held it’s hay auction Monday.

The group selling 160 first cut and 84 second cut pure alfalfa bales off the Lone Tree Growing Project quarter.

Spokesperson Troy Laforge the average price worked out to about $165 a tonne raising an overall total of $25 thousand dollars.

The money goes to the Canadian Foodgrains Bank where is matched 4 to 1 by the Federal Government making the total contribution $125 thousand dollars.

The Canadian Foodgrains Bank is a Christian Response to Hunger helping to provide food aid in areas of dire need as well as providing an educational component.

The Foodgrains bank helps to provide education and food for work programs where they teach people how to be more self sustaining.
