Finding value in the feed industry is the goal for the new Associate Professor and Research Chair in Feed Processing Technology at the University of Saskatchewan.

Rex Newkirk says his experience at CIGI will help as they work to provide the greatest value for the industry :

"We've been doing some sorting work looking at technologies to take out fusarium from infected wheat and durum. That can have a positive impact on livestock but if we also clean it up enough we can make milling grade and hopefully add even more value. So, my job will be primarily on the feed side but always looking at how do we get the greatest value for the industry and for the producer," Newkirk said.

He will also work with researchers in the Department of Animal and Poultry Science, the Crop Development Centre, Prairie Swine Centre and the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the U of S.
