The Canadian Wheat Board has announced the details of its 2007-08 identity preserved contract program for red winter select wheat.

Agronomist Mike Grenier says the goal is to segregate the varieties of winter wheat that have better milling qualities.

"The object of the program is by segregating these verities and doing market development work in terms of evaluating the quality, getting samples to customers, and we can target some higher premium markets such as some of the Asian markets."

Eligible varieties include A-C bellatrix, Readymade, and Tempest, plus C-D-C Buteo.

Benefits to signing up include contract premiums of $10 per tonne, guaranteed delivery, and storage payments.
