Saskatchewan Agriculture's Weekly Crop Report has been released, and it looks like the crop yield will be above the 5 and 10 year averages, with the exception of lentils and chickpeas.

Provincially, about 62% of the winter wheat, 15% of the peas, 5% of the lentils and 4% of the barley and mustard have been combined,  while 9% of the canola and mustard has been swathed.

In the Southwest 54% of the winter wheat, 19% of the peas, 6% of the oats, 5% of the mustard, and 3% of the barley and lentils are in the bin with 28% of the canola now swathed.

Agri-Meteorologist with World Weather Inc. Drew Lerner says that this is due the recent warm weather we've been experiencing. He said that the Northern areas of the province could still see some rain, but for the rest of us it will be sunshine and cooler temperatures.

"It wouldn't surprise me at all on Monday afternoon to see some temperatures up around 30 or over 30 degrees in several areas, from Central through Southern portions of the province. It'll be a real quick one-day shot of warmer air, (and) will turn right around a bring some more cooling into the region as we go from Tuesday on into Wednesday and Thursday".

Lerner added that farmers should also prepare for chance of showers during the middle of the August 21st week that could upset harvest, but it should be very light and mild.
