Saskatchewan is the world’s top exporter of Canaryseed, but to date the crop has been used almost entirely as birdseed.

Producers taking part in the AGM for the Canaryseed Development Commission of Saskatchewan are expecting some big news.

Kevin Hursh the groups Executive Director and says they’ve been working hard on trying to get human food approval for Canaryseed.

"We'll explain where it's at, what this milestone means and what the extra additional steps we need to take will be but we do have good news to announce," Hursh said.

The Canaryseed Development Commission of Saskatchewan’s AGM was held Monday in Saskatoon.
