After a major water main break on 9th Avenue NW caused a large amount of flooding within William Grayson school, things seem to finally be getting back to normal.

Winmar was hard at work all last week getting the basement back in working condition

The entire lower level was inaccessible for the week as cleanup crews worked to remove water and stop the leak.

Vice Principal Robin Heshke said while the water has been cleaned up and things are relatively back to normal, there is still work to be done.

"Our computer lab and things like that will end up being accessible soon, but all of the computer cords got wet. They are redoing all the flooring in chunks, and what I mean by that is they are putting the classrooms back into use starting today, then they will redo the hallway floor, and during the February break when there are no students, they will redo the classroom flooring."

One hallway in the basement is still inaccessible, however – none of the connected rooms are needed for classes.

"We were able to utilize our library and our art room [during repairs]. The students and the teachers of those rooms were flexible, it was a really good week. I didn't know what to anticipate and the kids just went with the flow of things, along with the teachers. Had you not known what was going on and you walked up to the top floor, you'd never know there was a flood. Winmar has risen above any of our expectations, they have been wonderful to work with and have made sure that we're all safe and that the works getting done quickly. It's really been a smooth process."

The school remained open during repairs.
