In conclusion to the dramatic events of yesterday's city-wide cougar hunt, the big cat was finally euthanized just before midnight last night by the Moose Jaw Police Service.

Police finally managed to find and track the cougar's movements with a drone. Conservation officers attended and advised that any attempt to tranquillize the animal in an urban setting would not be effective or safe for the public.

First sighted through a doorbell camera on James Street, police and conservation officers began tracking a cougar across the city yesterday.

There were multiple sightings around town and parents were even instructed at one point to come pick up their children from King George and St. Agnes Elementary Schools after sightings of the wild cat were reported nearby.

Police say that the result was regrettable but thanks the public for its cooperation.
