Two deaths and 221 new cases of COVID-19 were announced on Friday, as well as 225 recoveries.

One of the deaths reported was a resident in their 60's from the northwest, and the other was a resident in their 40's from the southeast.

Of the new cases, 25 are in the south-central zone, 57 in Regina, 25 are in Saskatoon, 25 are in the southeast, 21 in the northwest, 18 in the southwest, 11 in the central-east, eight in the north-central zone, five in the far northwest, five in the far northeast, four in the northeast, and one in the central-west. 16 of the new cases are pending resident information.

2,603 cases are considered active, and of those, 140 are located within the sub-region 'south-central 2' which is made up of Moose Jaw and the surrounding area.

190 people are in hospital, with 146 receiving inpatient care, and 44 are in intensive care.

Vaccine Eligibility

Residents aged 48-54 are now able to take advantage of a drive-thru vaccine clinic opened Friday at the South Hill Fire Hall.

The clinic will be open until 7 this evening and is on a first-come-first-serve basis.

There will also be A walk-in clinic open Saturday at the exhibition grounds from 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.

All online and over-the-phone booking is open to those aged 48 and up.

It was also announced that more non-SHA healthcare workers on the frontline in clinical care areas will now be able to book their vaccine appointment, these include:

  • Frontline staff in private physician offices who provide patient care
  • Frontline staff in private digital imaging clinics
  • Frontline staff in community labs
  • Frontline staff at the Saskatchewan Cancer agency

These healthcare workers will receive a letter of eligibility over the next few days, which will be required for them to register for their vaccination. Appointments for this group must be made through the telephone booking system online.

Vaccination Update

An additional 8,168 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 323,573.

The 8,168 doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported today were administered to residents living in the following regions: Far North West (11), Far North Central (1), Far North East (134), North West (452), North Central (463), North East (60), Saskatoon (2,532), Central West (78), Central East (740), Regina (2,468), South West (65), South Central (529) and South East (437). There were 198 doses administered with the zone of residence pending.

Fifty-eight per cent of Saskatchewan residents age 50+ have received their first dose.
