Did you know that Moose Jaw has over 40 kilometres of trails throughout the city's parks and neighbourhoods?

The city is currently working on building a working plan of how to make our trails even better and are inviting residents to participate in a household survey about the trails system within Moose Jaw.

Derek Blais is the director of the Parks and Recreation Department;

"We're looking for some feedback on a couple of key areas: connectivity within the trails system, accessibility, and any possible safety concerns at crossings. We want to get a good idea of usage too. How many people are using the trails, what they're using it for? All the kinds of things that'll help us plan for the future."

It's all part of the city's development of a list of priorities that can be implemented if the funds become available.

"Having a working plan in place is gonna help us not only when we have the funds there, but also when we are applying for grant funding. It'll show grant writers that we already have a concrete plan and that all we need is the funding to get it done."

Blais says they are hoping to hear back from at least several hundred households within the city.

"The trails are an important part of our community. It's how some people get to work, it's how some people spend their family time, it's how some people get their exercise. So it's important for us that the system is interconnected and accessible to all, as well as having all the proper maps and signage."
