A cabaret, bouncy castles, a petting zoo, farmers market; those are just a few of the things you’ll find at this years Old Wives Lake Festival running in Mossbank July 17, and 18.

While this year's festival will be toned down compared to years past, Chair of Mossbank Tourism, Christa Fortin, says they’re hoping this year will be just as successful as the last festival they were able to hold.

“It’s been two years now since we’ve been able to host anything,” says Fortin. “The Old Wives Lake Festival 2019 was the biggest success we’ve ever had, but with the restrictions in place the last while we weren’t able to host anything. This year we will come back so that everyone can remember that we’re still here. 2021 will be a great event, but we didn’t want you to forget about us.”

The cabaret will be held Saturday, July 17 in front of the Mossbank Community Hall and will cost $10 for those 19+. Sunday morning will kick off with a pancake breakfast, followed by registration for the Show and Shine. Along with the other attractions, there will also be live blacksmith demonstrations at one of the last remaining original blacksmithing sites in the province.

“Promoting our community as a whole is really important to us because we’re trying to stay viable. We are doing some local expansions as far as our neighbourhoods go; we’ve redone main street as part of the revitalization program, some recreation upgrades. We want people to see our community and what we have to offer, and how much fun things can be when we all work together.”
