The 14th Annual 800 CHAB Moose Jaw Health Foundation Family First Radiothon has been temporarily put on hold.

The radiothon was slated for May 7-8 live on CHAB, but will be pushed back to later in the year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Moose Jaw Health Foundation’s Kelly McElree said postponing the event was made for the safety of everyone.

“Donors are family to the foundation and we do not want to put our family at risk,” said McElree. “We have volunteers on the phone, the great staff at Golden West Radio, our donors, hospital staff, and it’s in everyone’s best interest to continue practising social distancing. When the radiothon comes back later in the year, it’ll come back bigger and better than ever.”

McElree said the foundation has reached out to the provincial health authority to see what they can do to help.

“We’re not going to go out and ask for money until they come to us and say ‘this is exactly what we need.’”

This year’s goal was to raise $195,000 for the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital.
