Country Thunder took place in Craven this past weekend and this year it was true to its name, with a significant thunderstorm rolling through the area on Saturday night and a second on Sunday night.

Saskatchewan RCMP said they were busy assisting the on-site security and emergency services to evacuate patrons from the concert bowl area and into a shelter. The storm was short-lived; however, the area was hit with heavy rain, some hail and high winds. It also forced the cancellation of Tim McGraw's performance.

One impaired driver was located and arrested on the festival site on Sunday, one minor assault was investigated as well as several instances of causing a disturbance and alcohol-related incidents. Minors consuming liquor remains an issue on-site according to the RCMP.

Around 11 am Monday morning RCMP sent out their final update from the weekend stating that they had a relatively smooth and pleasant past few days thanks to most concert-goers abiding by laws and rules set in place.

Here is a list of calls provided by the RCMP from the Country Thunder weekend:

  • 160 calls for service
  • 27 charges laid (21 of those were charges against adults and 6 were against youths)
  • 46 prisoners held in custody.
  • The vast majority of calls and charges were alcohol-related.

In terms of Combined Traffic Services statistics officers issued:

  • 307 tickets
  • 432 warnings
  • 81 vehicle inspection tickets
  • 4 roadside suspensions
  • 6 people located who were wanted on outstanding warrants

Due to the wet ground and muddy conditions from a storm that finished off the weekend, officers will be focused on aiding attendees exiting the festival grounds and helping to navigate traffic.
