It's Tourism Awareness Week in Saskatchewan. Tourism Saskatchewan's Regan Brady explains what the week is about, "Saskatchewan celebrates Tourism Awareness Week from May 31st to June 6th. It's a week dedicated to promoting Saskatchewan's wealth of tourism attractions and resources, as well as providing a broader understanding of the importance of Saskatchewan's tourism industry and it also provides us with a chance to honour those who work to make the industry such a success."
Brady says there are many tourist destinations in the province, "We have more 100,000 lakes and rivers, we have numerous provincial parks, national parks, regional parks for our residents to enjoy, to go camping. We've got more than 250 golf courses in the province. As well we have numerous events and attractions going on in our cities, Saskatoon and Regina have festivals going on almost every weekend in the summer and we just encourage you to be a tourist in your own town."
Brady adds that tourism is one of the fastest growing industries in our province and contributes nearly 1.5 billion dollars to the economy.
