| "Miss Teen" Shares Her Story |
 She loves to dance and act and wear new clothes and she has dabbled in modelling. So, when she saw a "Facebook" ad asking for entries in the Miss Teen Saskatchewan pageant, she entered. Now, Moose Jaw's Siera Bearchell is Miss Teen Saskatchewan...winning the crown in Saskatoon on Sunday night. Siera and several other Saskatchewan girls will travel to Toronto for "Miss Teen Canada - World" in July. A remarkable story, Siera has been living out of suitcases and boxes for the past month after a fire destroyed her Mom's townhouse... "I applied and Michelle, the director e-mailed me, looking like we were going to do an interview and then we had the house fire, so it kind of got delayed and put-off. Three days before the pageant Michelle called me and just did an on the phone interview and said she wanted me to be a delegate for Miss Teen Saskatchewan". So, Siera got everything together on Thursday and Friday and she was at the pageant on Saturday morning. All the rehearsing and the focus was on the Sunday night show and Siera says it was set-up just like most pageants she's seen on TV....and it was a lot of fun. "The opening number was Kill The Lights by Britney Spears and that was a lot of fun. Then we did our intro, you know our name and age and where we are from. After that we did the evening gown, which was a very lovely part of the show -- they said it brought out the princess in all of us which was kind of cool and that was really nice, everyone looked really awesome. Then we did a swimsuit kind of showing and then we put our evening gowns back on and we did our platforms, which is kind of what you want to do in the community or change and so on. Then, we came out for the announcement of who won and who is going on to the National Miss Teen Canada-World". Bearchell is now off to nationals where she'll be up against 48 girls for the title of Miss Teen Canada. Nationals run in Toronto July 19-26. |
