| Back Up Plan in Place |
|
It's a wait-and-see approach.
Earlier this week 32 unionized dispatchers, paramedics and EMT's with Moose Jaw and District EMS voted in favour of strike action. The employees have been bargaining without a contract since last spring.
Employees could walk-off the job as soon as they give 48 strike notice. EMS General Manager Ron Dufresne says a contingency plan is in place at which time an appropriate number of staff from around the province will be available to respond. But that's something he doesn't want to have to rely on.
"We value our team a great deal. We think they do a great job and we certainly want to have a favourable conclusion so we're looking forward to hearing from the union to set up some dates to continue negotiating." |
