Bringing with him a long resume, Mike Stothers was introduced as the new head coach of the Moose Jaw Warriors on Wednesday morning.

Stothers comes to Moose Jaw after spending the past season as an assistant coach with the Atlanta Thrashers.  He will replace former coach Dave Hunchak, who was let go after a first-round playoff exit to end the 2010-11 season.

Stothers has over 30 years of professional hockey experience as both a player and a coach, serving as the head coach for the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL) and the Owen Sound Attack (OHL), and as an assistant with the Philadelphia Flyers (NHL), Philadelphia Phantoms and Hersey Bears (AHL).

He was also a first round pick of the Flyers in 1980, playing in over 700 pro games at the AHL and NHL level.

The Warriors also announced that they had signed assistant coach Mike Vandenberghe to a new multi-year deal and decided not to pick up the option on assistant coach Trevor Weisgerber at the conference on Wednesday.

Vandenberghe had joined the Warriors staff in Decemeber 2010.  Weisgerber was brought at the start of 2010.
