Moose Jaw Cardinal's pitcher Tanner Spencer has logged alot of air miles this summer.
Spencer has been splitting time with the Cards while trying to crack Baseball Canada's Under 18 National Junior team for the World Championships. He made stops in Orlando, Boston, New York, St. Paul, and the Dominican Republic, and even though he didn't make the team, he picked up a wealth of knowledge. "I learned that I can compete with professional players and learned how to approach the game better, that I need to go out and attack no matter what the situation is, and you just have to get outs," said Spencer. Spencer says his favourite memory from the past couple of weeks was when Canada beat the USA at Midway Stadium in St. Paul. Now that he's returned to the Cardinals his focus has turned to this weekend's Midget AAA Provincials in Saskatoon, and with his and Ben Douglas's return, he feels as though they've got a fighting chance. "We have alot of guys that are on the Canada Cup team and guys who are formerly on the Canada Cup team. Douglas in the center of the lineup and me pitching good in provincials should inject some energy into the team." The Cardinals open provincials with a pair of games Friday. They play the Southeast Royals at 12:15pm and then the Regina Mets at 6:15pm.
