A Lieutenant Colonel in the Canadian Air Force has been selected to help run the Moose Jaw Multiplex. Kurt Saladana has been selected to serve on the first ever Governance Board.
"I'm obviously pleased and perhaps a little bit daunted because a lot of the taxpayers money is conceivably at-risk with the operation of the facility." The Chief of Staff for 15 Wing Moose Jaw believes his leadership experience will be a big asset. "I've been in the Armed Forces for 31 years now and apart from leadership skills I've spent a lot of my career writing and developing policy and different organizational levels." As we wait for the grand opening of the multiplex and soccer field house facilities, Saladana says he hopes the board can make the projects a break even operation, but also realizes that most, if not all city run facilities like pools and rinks are subsidized. "I know of very few city facilities that make money, but I would really be thrilled if we can figure out a way this will be a profit generator for the city of Moose Jaw." Saladana will be joined by Genelle Payant, Terry Hardy and Susan Flett as the citizens at large on the board. Heather Eby, Fraser Tolmie and Terry Coleman are the council representatives. On Monday, City Council selected the first-ever non-profit board of directors for the Moose Jaw Multiplex. Click here to read the original story about who made the cut.
