The Little Chicago Development Company is now free to move ahead with their planned development of a hotel on the zero block of River Street West, right across from the Multiplex.
Two weeks ago initial approval was given to connect to their hotel to the new sports facility by way of a skywalk, similar to what is used at the Temple Gardens Mineral Spa. The River Street developers were also given approval to buy a portion of the actual street so they can build their hotel north and south across the street. ==== Moose Jaw City Council has given a new building supply store the green light to move ahead with development plans on Thatcher Drive East. Pro-Dev International applied for a discretionary use application for the property located between Sobey's and Wal-Mart. The application is for a 30,000 square foot building. The supply company that will occupy the space hasn't been named, but their letter to the city says they plan on creating 50 jobs and will start construction this fall or early winter. ==== Thatcher Drive East could soon look a little different. Back in 2008, Councillors approved a project to look at how they could spruce up the area with trees and landscaping. The Moose Jaw Exhibition Company is working to build a new fence at their main entrance and they would like to make that area more appealing at the same time. Moose Jaw City Council has approved a one-third cost sharing project with the Exhibition Company to a maximum of $17,000. ==== More billboards will start popping up in Moose Jaw, but not in the neighbourhood we're accustomed to seeing them. The Design Sign Company has received approval to install around eight 10 x 30 foot signs along highway 2 on the south side of the city. Moose Jaw City Council has been concerned for the a couple of years now that signs along Thatcher Drive are starting to make the area look unappealing. The Design Sign Company has assured Moose Jaw City Council that they will make professional grade signs and meet the required standards. |
