That's the title of a new discussion document released by Pulse Canada. CEO Gord Bacon says the food industry is looking for solutions when it comes to food that's healthy and environmentally friendly... and pulses are part of the answer.

"We're trying to show where pulses address the health, nutrition and environmental interest that exists and do that by using some case studies, highlighting some players in the industry and bringing it right back to the farm level. A lot of the connection the food industry is interested in is where does the food come from and how is it grown? We've got a great story."

Bacon notes close to half of all the new food product launches globally are making a health or nutrition claim. He says pulses can play an important role in helping food companies reach those nutritional standards.
