| New Smoking Legislation? |
| Tuesday, 27 October 2009 | |
The provincial government is working on some new legislation that is going to ruffle a few feathers and it has to do with smoking.
Since the province wide smoking ban that prevents people from smoking in public places such as restaurants and other establishments, many businesses have spent a lot of money on patios so their customers could smoke outside. Now the provincial government is thinking about banning that as well. The legislature could also include a ban on smoking in a personal vehicle, if a child is present. Right now employees are not allowed to smoke in company vehicles because they are considered part of the workplace and fall under the last piece of smoking legislation that was passed. The new smoking laws are part of the Throne Speech presented last week that promised to focus more on the health of Saskatchewan residents. |
