Superstore Strike?

The vote will be on Monday which determines if the workers at Superstore will be heading to the picket line.

Employees at the Super store in Moose Jaw will be taking a strike vote on Monday.

They are part of local 1400 of the United Food and Commerical Workers Union, and along with their co-workers in Alberta and Manitoba, have been without a contract since May.

Voters across Saskatchewan are also taking the strike vote, and the results will be be announced on September 18th.

UFCW workers in Manitoba voted 98 per cent in favour of strike action.  Those in Alberta were 90 per cent in favour of striking.

If the Saskatchewan vote calls for strike action, workers are expected to walk out over the Thanksgiving weekend.

The last strike at Super Store occured six years ago and lasted two weeks.
