A pair of scholarships were handed out Monday night at city council to Ha'Keena Maneso, and Connor Johnson.

Maneso was awarded the 2020 Dubinsky Family Educational Trust Scholarship, which is awarded to a high school student in Moose Jaw who will be pursuing post-secondary studies.

Maneso graduated from Vanier Collegiate with a 93% average and will be attending Queens University's Theatre Arts program. She's also the chair of the city's youth advisory committee, youth spokesperson for the Elder Hope Project, and a leadership committee member of the Kids Helping Kids Fundraiser.

Johnson, on the other hand, was awarded the 2020 Snowbirds Scholarship, which is given to a high school student from Moose Jaw who is also a member of the cadets, who will be pursuing post-secondary studies.

Johnson graduated from Central with a 91.6% average and has been accepted into the U of R's Environment Systems Engineering Program. He's been a member of the cadets since 2013, volunteers with CCResQ's dog rescue organization, and is involved with multiple community and fundraising events.
