The Moose Jaw Fire Department was on the scene of a fire at the city’s sanitary landfill east of town on Thursday night.

The call came in just after 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.

It is unclear how the fire started and if it is under control.

MJFD crews are doing their best to douse the fire with water at this time, with the help of City of Moose Jaw staff running heavy machinery adding dirt to the blaze. 

They did confirm that the fire is quite large and predicted to be on the scene for a lengthy time to try and control and extinguish the blaze.
