The Saskatchewan Watershed Authority is expecting some flooding up north this spring but here in the Moose Jaw area we seem to be safe.

What does an abundance of precipitation and frozen soil conditions have in common? Both of them contribute to potential flood conditions.

There are widespread areas of concern regarding above normal spring run-off in northern parts of the province from Yorkton across to Lloydminster and further north.

Doug Johnson with the Saskatchewan Watershed Authority tells us the government is preparing for potential flooding in a number of regions across the province. "The provincial government is getting together with the rural and urban municipalities to discuss emergency preparedness to make sure the province is prepared to handle the demand that may come from the municipalities as they start fighting the flooding situations they may encounter."

Johnson says there's not much to be concerned about in the Moose Jaw region as we've got below normal spring run-off potential.
