As the song goes, "the cat came back, it just couldn't stay away."

It all started late Sunday night when a resident of James Street spotted what appeared to be one, large cougar strolling past a security camera.  Police were notified, conservation officers were called in and the hunt was on.

The search continued for about 24 hours with a number of cougar sightings being reported throughout the day on Monday.  The cat was seen downtown near the CO OP and then later in the avenues around St. Agnes and King George schools.

There was also talk about a sighting late last night up around Main and Saskatchewan streets.

The Moose Jaw Police service told us this morning they used a drone to track the cougar.  And, they said, "Due to public safety concerns and in consultation with the conservation officers on scene, police successfully euthanized the cougar."

I'm predicting criticism of that decision from local keyboard warriors today.

There's no criticism here today...just a tip of the cap and respect for the people who keep us safe.
