The Moose Jaw Warriors have a 2 games-to-one series lead after beating the Saskatoon Blades 3-1 last night at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.

The Blades scored first, but Warriors' Atley Calvert replied with a goal early in the second period, Martin Rysavy scored the game-winner 7:14 into the third, and Captain Denton Mateychuk scored on an empty net for the insurance goal.

Warriors Goalie Jackson Unger made 31 saves during last night's game.

The Warriors and Blades are back at the Hangar for Game 4 tonight, and tickets are standing room only. Puck drop is 7 p.m., and you can catch all the action with Voice of the Warriors, James Gallo, starting with the pregame show at 6:40 p.m.

The Toronto Maple Leafs lived to play another day, beating the Boston Bruins 2-1 in overtime, forcing game 6 tomorrow in Toronto. The Carolina Hurricanes move on to round 2 after beating the New York Islanders 6-3, the Winnipeg Jets fell out of playoffs, losing 6-3 to the Colorado Avalanche, and Nashville edged the Vancouver Canucks 2-1 last night and that forces a game 6 in Nashville on Friday.

In Major League Baseball, the Toronto Blue Jays lost 4-1 to the Kansas City Royals.

In local volleyball, provincials, Moose Jaw's Golden Ticket 14U Men's Black Team defeated Team Gold in the Division 2 Tier 1 gold medal game.


Also of note, the Golden Ticket 17U Women went 5 and 1 at provincials, winning the division 3 Gold Medal.
